Riverbed and IBM – SteelHead Spot Check What is it? The SteelHead Spotcheck is designed to assure that the customer realises the full value of their SteelHead systems. It accomplishes this by: Identifying and addressing any unresolved issues Making the customer aware of the benefits they are realising from their SteelHeads or reconfiguring their SteelHeads Reasons for a SpotCheck As applications change (Word, Excel, CAD, PACS), the protocols that support them change. This may mean that the existing SteelHeads need to be s/w upgraded to support the new protocols More applications are moving to encrypted protocols – again a s/w upgrade may be need to support encrypted protocols Applications are also making users workstations busier – more concurrent sessions are being generated per workstation which may create capacity issues in existing SteelHead deployments Hybrid Enterprise / Hybrid Networking / SaaS – all of these change where the applications “live” and traditional WAN optimisation may not be able to optimise to those new locations outside of the customers Data Centre. Converged Branch Infrastructure / Zero Branch IT – our new hardware allows customers to eliminate the need for distributed storage and servers as well as the costly backup processes that go with this. Clearly, application performance equals business performance. We depend on applications for everything today, whether you’re at a local retail store or a multinational corporation. If applications don’t work, employees can’t work. Collaboration doesn’t happen. Products don’t get shipped on time. Customers can’t be served. Transactions can’t complete. Business is lost. Application performance directly impacts business performance in every way.
