National Seniors’ Strategy MP Kim Rudd, Northumberland- Peterborough South National Seniors’ Strategy M-106, MP Marc Serré’s motion to develop a National Seniors’ Strategy passed on May 17th, 2017. HUMA Committee conducted a study to develop National Seniors Strategy Access to housing for seniors including aging in place and affordable and accessible housing; Income security for vulnerable seniors; Overall quality of life and well-being for seniors including community programming, social inclusivity and social determinants of health; Addressing Ageism The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development (HUMA) began a study on developing a National Seniors Strategy on June 6th, 2017. The study will continue when Parliament resumes sitting in the Fall. In addition: The National Seniors Council is being re-engaged and its mandate is being broadened. The National Seniors Council will undertake reviews and analysis on issues of importance to seniors and their well-being The National Seniors Council will provide advice to the government on implementing a National Seniors Strategy after HUMA concludes its study #SeniorsPlan
