Why would Shakespeare immediately start a play about forbidden love with Capulet and Montague servants fighting? Why not start with actual family members? What can we tell about the Prince based off his language? What is his speech like compared to the servants at the beginning of the scene? What is Romeo’s problem at the end of 1.1? Who is he in love with? What is Benvolio’s advice? What would you tell a friend that had a crush on someone who didn’t like them back? How is Romeo characterized? How is Benvolio characterized?
