[Hg3(m-C6F4)3]. Naphthalene p-acid/p-base adduct 3.3 Å p-base p-acid p-acid/p-base adduct

Average vibronic spacing: 1434 ± 80 cm-1 Luminescence spectra of naphtahlene.[Hg3(m-C6F4)3] at ambient temperature, resulting in 100% phosphorescence! CONTROL: Emission spectrum of solid napthalene without the mercury trimer. Emission is due to monomer fluorescence. Average vibronic spacing: 1434 ± 80 cm-1

[Hg3(m-C6F4)3].Pyrene adduct p-base p-acid p-acid/p-base adduct

Emission spectra of pyrene.[Hg3(m-C6F4)3] CONTROL: Emission spectrum of solid pyrene Science here has two important technological implications on the EL device industry: Phosphorescence enhancement (100%) Unlike naphthalene, solid pyrene gives excimer not monomer emission. Excimer emissions are not desired for organic fluorophores in EL applications. Solid-state interaction of pyrene with Hg3 units (see X-ray data) prevents pyrene from association.
