Mentor Text! Did you include… Lead? “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.” – Michael Jordan. In our culture, individuality and being self-motivated are often prized. The truth is, it’s good to be independent, but sometimes teams can accomplish a lot more. There are many times in class where you will be given the option of working by yourself or with a group. Groups are better! If you have to do a research project or some kind of big assignment, work with a partner or group because that way you can divide the work evenly. If you are not given the option, you can call your friend or schedule a study party where you can all work on your separate projects together. One day in theater, my teacher assigned us projects. She gave me the option of working with a friend, but I declined. I stayed up every night that week till three trying to finish my project. I was really stressed and sleep-deprived. I finally finished my project and turned it in on time. Every day since then I regret working alone. Can you imagine playing sports alone? How boring would it be to watch a football game in which only one player from each team was playing? We wouldn’t have sports without teams. They say there is no “I” in teamwork, and sometimes that can be a good thing. Whenever faced with the option of working alone or with a group, it’s better join the team! Thesis? Good reasons? HELPS ME examples? HELPS ME? Truism?
