Objective I can identify the Mexican Federal Constitution of 1824 and how that combined with the merging of Coahuila Y Tejas affected Texas. Write it Down

What has happened between Spain and its colonies? Write it Down Answer: The Spanish colonies have just gotten their independence from Spain in 1821. They are now known as the Constituent of Mexican States.

How does Mexican Independence affect Texas? Write it Down Answer: Texas is now a part of Mexico. Only three settlements survived San Antonio, Goliad, Nacogdoches

Current State of Texas Region In 1819, very few people lived in Texas. What big event has not happened yet in Mexico? About 3,000 Tejanos, Mexicans who claimed Texas as their home, made up most of the area’s population. To promote growth in Texas, Spain offered large amounts of land to people who agreed to bring families to settle the region. Write it down

Interactions between American Settlers and Mexico By 1830, Americans greatly outnumbered Mexicans in Texas. The Americans had not adopted Mexican practices, as promised. The U.S. had offered to buy Texas twice. They were turned down.

More Mexican Laws against American Settlers 1821- Colonists could bring slaves into Texas. 1823- The sale or purchase of a slave is forbidden by Mexican Government. 1827- The Coahuila y Tejas State legislature outlaws the introduction of additional slaves in Texas. Declares all children born to slaves to be free. 1829- Mexico abolishes slavery, but grants an exception in Texas. 1830- the Importation of slaves is made illegal. Write it Down

Martin De Leon Mexican Empresario Write it Down Mexican Empresario Settled 200 families in South Texas between Lavaca and Guadalupe River. Founded the town of Victoria in 1824. Victoria still exists today.
