Bell Ringer: Monday, 8/19 Examining MLA: Correct these sentences: “Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings.”     “Dream may express profound aspects of personality” (Foulkes 184.)    

Corrected Versions: Corrected: Wordsworth stated that Romantic poetry was marked by a "spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings" (263). Corrected: According to Foulkes' study, dreams may express "profound aspects of personality" (184). *You may not use blind quotes in your writing!

What is a stereotype? Define the word stereotype using a dictionary or your personal device, and write the definition down in your notes.

Definition: Stereotype: A widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person
