Literary Devices Lamb to the Slaughter

Irony Lamb to the Slaughter (pun) Lambs innocently trust – easily led to their death Irony in the title… unaware as to what is going to happen to them

Irony Murder weapon – connection to the title? Patrick Moloney is so trusting – easily led to his own murder (Frozen lamb leg = murder weapon)

Dramatic Irony Reader knows the lamb leg is the murder weapon and know the police inadvertently eat the evidence

Imagery Find a visually descriptive passage to share with the class. Ex: “It was a dark and stormy night”

Simile Simile: A stated comparison (usually formed with "like" or "as") between two dissimilar things that have certain qualities in common. “Our love is like a red, red rose” Can you find any in LTTS?

Metaphor Do you think the title is a metaphor? (think Mary as the lamb and slaughter being her happiness)
