Materials to be learned for final: Renfrew & Bahn: Introduction, Chs. 1-4 (entirely) Ch. 5, pp. 169-73, 190-1 Ch. 14 (archaeology and public) 2. Class notes 3. Indiana Jones NB: learn these two parts by going through the Questions for Final Exam! NB2: questions answered in labs are not part of mid-term! (unless they have been mentioned outside of labs)

Possible questions for final: 1. Is the ruin hill of Elephantine island mainly a result of natural or human formation processes? How did the hill come into existence? 2. The site was abandoned in the 14th century CE. Why have the Late Antique layers been poorly preserved in comparison with, for example, the pharaonic layers? 3. What have the Dutch excavations of the 1990’s at Francavilla Marittima revealed about the so-called temple of Athena or Athenaion? 4. What issue is involved in the display of human remains?
