Words to Live By “Just when life tries to overwhelm you, God’s grace is there to pick you up.” – BibleGodQuotes.com “If you wouldn’t do it in front of Jesus, don’t do it now.” – Author Unknown

Overexposure Review What does “Overexposure” mean when you are using social media? What are the 3 rules of overexposure? What are some consequences of overexposure on social media? What are some things that affect your online reputation? How presentation will benefit audience: Adult learners are more interested in a subject if they know how or why it is important to them. Presenter’s level of expertise in the subject: Briefly state your credentials in this area, or explain why participants should listen to you.

Internet Predators How are internet predators similar to street predators? They look for kids who are lonely and alone. They attempt to fool kids into believing they can be trusted. They lie. Ultimately, they want to hurt kids. What are some ways online predators are different from street predators? Online predators cannot be seen.

Online Predator Video Online video: Online Predators PSA What are some typical tactics of online predators? Try to gain your friendship and trust Try to help you with a problem Ask you to send a picture Try to convince you that they care more about you than your family and friends Suggest meeting in person NEVER AGREE TO MEET AN ONLINE CONTACT IN PERSON

What if…. ….you met someone face to face and that person touched you inappropriately? Tell an adult about it no matter who that person is It is never your fault when someone touches you or tries to touch you You will need time to heal, help, and support from those that love you The person who you met, if found, can be arrested and punished

Activity: Friend or Fake? Online video: Friend or Fake? How do you feel when your friend is continually on the phone texting with somebody else when you are hanging out? What things did the “friend” say to Keyan that might make you feel uncomfortable? If Keyan was your friend and had decided to go through with meeting this person, what would you have done? What are some rules or guidelines you should have before you take to a new “friend” online?

Internet Predators - Situation Lizzie is 13 and a good student who is outgoing and loves dance. She has over 500 friends on Snapchat, including friends she doesn't even know. This year, things have gotten more difficult at school, her friend group has changed and she has been fighting with her parents. Sometimes, she vents about these things on Instagram or Snapchat. "Evan" who lives a few towns over and attends a nearby school starts chatting with her. He says he is 14 years old and that he saw her dance at a recent competition. How presentation will benefit audience: Adult learners are more interested in a subject if they know how or why it is important to them. Presenter’s level of expertise in the subject: Briefly state your credentials in this area, or explain why participants should listen to you.

Internet Predators – Situation Part 2 Evan really understands what Lizzie is going through. He is so nice and makes her feel good about herself. After a few weeks, he asks to meet up but tells her not to tell anyone because they would not understand their special relationship. Lizzie is a little nervous but also excited. How presentation will benefit audience: Adult learners are more interested in a subject if they know how or why it is important to them. Presenter’s level of expertise in the subject: Briefly state your credentials in this area, or explain why participants should listen to you.

Questions for Discussion What should Lizzie do? Who do you think Evan really is? Why? If Lizzie was your friend, what advice would you give her? How presentation will benefit audience: Adult learners are more interested in a subject if they know how or why it is important to them. Presenter’s level of expertise in the subject: Briefly state your credentials in this area, or explain why participants should listen to you.
