2019 Operating Budget Review of Police Tuesday, November 12, 2018

State College Police Department Mission The employees of the State College Police Department are committed to being responsive to our community in the delivery of quality services and recognizing their responsibility to maintain order, while affording dignity and respect to every individual. To improve the quality of life in jurisdictions through a community partnership that promotes safe and secure neighborhoods and business districts. The Department will endeavor to identify and reduce citizens' concerns regarding traffic safety, criminal activity, neighborhood deterioration and continual nuisances by closely interacting with the community and local government departments while also engaging in crime prevention, criminal apprehension and other activities to reduce concerns in the community.

Personnel Highlights The State College Police Department has 61 sworn officers and 10.75 civilian employees. The SCPD is fully staffed at this time.

Operating Highlights Increase in revenue due to contracted services with: Harris Township (75 hours/week) College Township (265 hours/week) State College Area School District Penn State University Athletics Equipment purchases in 2019 18 body cameras will be purchased in 2019. Additional 18 body cameras will be purchased in 2020. Three Conducted Electrical Weapons (i.e. Tasers) Two Automated External Defibrillators (AED) Six ballistic vests
