Do Now 2-8-18 What is a thesis statement? Write a clear definition. Construct a thesis statement for a narrative essay using the topic, A Snow Day

The thesis statement is one or more sentences, usually placed at the start of an essay, that sum up the main point the essay is going to make. It should be clear, concise, and draw the reader’s attention.

Narrative writing The thesis statement for a narrative essay does not necessarily need to outline the whole essay. Instead, it should be a sentence including one of two things: the overall theme of the narrative or a lesson learned. Example: Everybody thought that the woman who lived in House 71 was a witch, until one Halloween night when I uncovered her true nature.

OK…Better On my vacation this summer in New Jersey, I had fun, spent time with my family, and enjoyed the nice weather. On my vacation this summer in New Jersey, I enjoyed sunny, warm days with my extended family. Mrs. Wentling was a great teacher. She spent a lot of time helping me, and I got better grades and felt better about myself. I’ll never forget Mrs. Wentling’s caring and dedication. The extra help she so generously gave me brought up not only my grades but my self-esteem as well.
