Chinese Philosophies try to find peace in society.

Confucianism Founder: Confucius -Deeply respected Chinese traditions Wanted to teach men of good character to work honestly and fairly There are 5 relationships in the world: Ruler and subject Husband and wife Father and son Older sibling and younger sibling Friend and friend Influences Han Dynasty to hire civil servants based on ability (meritocracy)

Taoism Founder: Laozi Asked to write a book of his thoughts as he left China In order to gain happiness, people must live in harmony and in line with nature Life is full of opposites like: Life and death Light and darkness Beauty and ugliness Pain and pleasure Live like nature! Nothing strives for fame or power People should take whatever comes at them and take it in stride!
