FRACTION Fractions are numbers that name parts of a whole or parts of a set.

FRACTION BAR A fraction bar is the line that separates the numerator and the denominator of a fraction.

Numerator The number above the fraction bar.

Denominator The number below the fraction bar.

Whole Number When you say 1/4 , you are talking about ¼ of a whole.

One – half or ½ It is a fraction and means one out of two equal parts.

One – fourth 1/4 It is a fraction and means one out of four equal parts.

One – eighth or 1/8 It is a fraction and means one out of eight equal parts.

One – sixteenth 1/16 It is a fraction and means one out of sixteen equal parts.
