Year 11 GCSE Mathematics

What makes success? Exam Success Practice makes permanent Engagement for Learning Commitment to learning Exam Success Regular Attendance Seek and accept help and support

The role of parents…..? Times Education Supplement “Parental Support is eight times more important in determining a child’s academic success than their background. The Campaign for Learning found that parental involvement in a child’s education can mean the difference between an A and A*.” ( 8 and 9 in todays terms) Times Education Supplement It is not about being a ‘super parent’ or being experts in every subject that your child studies. It is simply about knowing how best to spend your time you do have at each stage of the process, along with understanding the expectations and requirements of your child, and being alongside them in this process. The pastoral link is crucial to ensuring students feel calm, supported and empowered – the key attributes to unlocking their full potential.

Effective mathematics revision has 2 phases Revisiting and learning work undertaken during the course – establish what you don’t know. Practice, Practice, Practice

Revisiting Use exercise books to look back at work covered in lessons and PPE’s . Use your revision guide or other resources to practice these again to ensure confidence. Go to interventions Note topics down that you don’t know – practice these, DO NOT AVOID! Practice past papers and specimen papers

Revision lessons Students are grouped according to their current grade for revision sessions. The groups can be found in the bottom corridor of the Maths block. 3 Sessions Aiming for a 4 Aiming for a 6 Aiming for a 8 Once a PPE complete, the groups will be reviewed depending on grades achieved.
