Tackling the Gender Divide Through Internet Governance

Intro to Internet Governance Internet Governance or IG as it is commonly called simply refers to the way the Internet is used and managed. Issues of Internet Governance issues relating to the infrastructure and management of critical internet resources ie; administration of DNS and IP address, administration of root server system, technical standards, peering and interconnection, telecommunications infrastructure Issues relevant to the internet; IPRs, international trade, academia and digital literacy 1 3 Developmental aspects relating to the use of Internet Governance for capacity building 4 Issues relating to the use of the internet; spam, network security and cyber crime. 2

Internet Governance Forum (IGF) The IGF is an annual meeting where all active members of internet stakeholder groups come together to discuss key issues of the Internet on equal footing The 2017 IGF was held in Geneva, Switzerland and was themed “Shaping your Digital Future” It featured representatives from Internet stakeholder groups across the globe.
