The SS

Who were the SS? The SS was formed by Hitler before he became in full power to be professional and sophisticated bodyguards, unlike the SA who had became hated by Hitler as they made him look unprofessional. They were promoted to state security service for Hitler when he became leader of Germany.

What did they do? The SS were specially employed to eliminate all opposition to Nazi Germany They controlled concentration camps, where undesirable people were imprisoned and made to work, the average life span being 10 days.

What did they look like? Hugo Boss designed the SS uniforms leading people to believe that they were in high power and important as they were created by a well known designer. They wore all black uniforms instead of brown, which the SA wore because the SS were a lot more sophisticated than the SA. The desired SS member would be of the Aryan race; blue eyes and blonde hair. The SS wore a skull and crossbones, known as the Totenkopf, on their uniform if they were part of the execution squad.
