TEACH WHAT CHRIST COMMANDED “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” Luke 6:46

The All-Authoritative-One instructed His apostles to teach what He commanded (Matthew 28:18-20). Jesus possesses the omnipotent right to tell men what to do. Apostles were commanded to teach obedience. The Holy Spirit revealed the authoritative word of Christ (John 14:26; 15;26; 16:13).

How has the Lord Jesus made known to us what He authorized to be obeyed? In the Spirit-guided gospel of Christ Our Teacher and our Master has revealed how we are to determine what His established authority is (John 13:34-35).

How has the Lord Jesus made known to us what He authorized to be obeyed? By a stated commandment: “A new commandment I give to you that you love one another”

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matthew 5:6) “But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:28)

“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is spiritual service of worship.” (Romans 12:1) “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.”(Romans 12:9) “Contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality” (Romans 12:13)

“Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-17) “Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.” (Hebrews 13:15)

How has the Lord Jesus made known to us what He authorized to be obeyed? By a stated commandment: “A new commandment I give to you that you love one another” By an example to be followed: “Even as I loved you, that you love one another”

“If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you” (John 13:14-15) “Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me. For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and he will remind you of my ways which are in Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:16-17)

“Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1) “Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved. . . Now these things happened to them as an example, and they are written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.” (1 Corinthians 10:6, 11)

“Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern in us.” (Philippians 3:17) “So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.” (2 Thessalonians 2:15)

How has the Lord Jesus made known to us what He authorized to be obeyed? By a stated commandment: “A new commandment I give to you that you love one another” By an example to be followed: “Even as I loved you, that you love one another” By a necessary inference: “By this all men will know that you are My disciples if you have love for one another”

“And God, who knows the heart, testified to them giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us; and He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith. Now therefore why do you put God to the test by placing upon the neck of the disciples a yoke which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear? But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they also are.” (Acts 15:8-11).
