Presentation transcript:

2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

Worldly sorrow It is legitimate sorrow It is actual sadness, brokenness It is actual tears; maybe many tears It is not that I am sorry, BUT what am I sorry ABOUT?

Worldly sorrow Focus is the world I must give up something I want– one of my pleasures My tears are for what I am losing that I want to keep It is from a self-centered heart

godly sorrow The focus is GOD It is pain over my relationship with Him I am heartbroken that I have offended God Worldly sorrow is over losing things; Godly sorrow is over losing God himself

godly sorrow Is serious Eagerness to clear MYself Leads to indignation Leads to fear Leads to longing for restoration Leads to longing for justice

Godly sorrow leads to repentance
