Agenda: 1/2 and 1/3 Welcome back! Class Procedures Seating Chart? Winter break stories/class resolutions Writing Folder Setup Letter for second semester New unit: Dystopias and F451 W.12.4: I can write for task, purpose, and audience.

Review of Class Procedures Let’s make this semester a good one, okay? Only 45 more classes until graduation.

Break and New Year’s Resolutions First, does anyone have something they would like to share from their winter break? Something school appropriate? Next, we’re going to come up with five class resolutions for the rest of the year. Hopefully, we can create a respectful learning environment so we don’t ALL start 2017 with a painful January.

Have you already done this? If you have, great! If not, do it now!! Writing Folder Setup Have you already done this? If you have, great! If not, do it now!!

Letter to Teacher W.12.4: I can write for task, purpose, and audience. Paragraph One - HOW YOU DID LAST SEMESTER - Explain in a full paragraph (5-6 sentences) how you did last semester. Do you care about your grades? Are you satisfied with the outcome? What do you feel like you learned? What was least helpful? How do you feel about Dunbar and its community? Paragraph Two - YOUR GOALS FOR THE SPRING SEMESTER- Explain three academic related goals that you would like to accomplish this semester. Explain why you want to accomplish the things that you have mentioned. Paragraph Three - HOW YOU INTEND TO MEET YOUR GOALS - Explain actual examples of ways you plan to address these goals in the classroom. Example: “I plan on emailing my teacher for extra help.” Paragraph Four - WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO- Explain what you’re most interested in after leaving high school. Describe what the rest of 2017 looks like after you leave Dunbar in May. YOU CANNOT WRITE “I DON’T KNOW”. You might not have specific plans, but you can think toward realistic, achievable things that will happen during the summer and/or the fall.

Letter to Teacher W.12.4: I can write for task, purpose, and audience. To submit: Make sure your letter is in your English 4 folder and SHARE using the top right-hand corner button to: monica.cole@fayette.kyschools.us
