Things to know for mandible 3 views AP, AP Axial, Axiolateral Page 404-406

Cassette 8x 10 lengthwise

AP Mandible Patient supine on table Midline with midline Tuck chin until the OML is perpendicular with IR No rotation or tilt

CR is perpendicular to junction of lips SID 40

What is seen Mandibular rami Lateral portion of body

AP Axial 8 x 10 lengthwise Shield Marker 80@16 Hold breath

Positioning Patient supine Midline to midline Tuck chin to OML is perpendicular No rotation or tilt

CR is angled 35-40 Degrees Caudad Entering at the Glabella SID 40

What to look for Condyloid processes Temporomandibular fossae

Axiolateral 8 x 10 Crosswise 75 @ 5 Shield Marker Hold breath Collimate to mandible

Positioning Rotate the head in a lateral position. ( sometime body has to roll) Side of interest on table. Extend neck so no imposition of spine

CR is angled 25 degrees cephalad Exit the region of interest Sid 40

Seen on Film Rami Body And mentum nearest the film

Orbits One View Rhese Method 8x10 Shield Marker 80 @ 18 Hold breath Collimate to area of interest

Positioning Patient prone on table Place patient’s chin, check and nose against table The mid sagittal plane froms a 53 degrees angle with IR Acanthiomeatal line perpendicualr to IR

CR perpendicular to the downside orbit

Seen on film Optic canal Optic foramen
