Smart Grid Technology – a Master Program SGT-MaP Smart Grid Technology – a Master Program Road Map Development Andrea Tonello Sevilla, Spain, SGT-MaP project meeting, 14 Sep 2018

UNI-KLU – D5.2 Development of a Roadmap Development of a roadmap toward upgrading the conventional grid In the proposal, it is written that The Egyptian partners will review the smart grid roadmap standards and contact the ministry of electricity in Egypt Do surveys and questionnaires about the future and impact of smart grid on Egyptian society. The EU partner will transfer their experience in order to optimize the proposed roadmap and contribute into solving the energy crisis in Egypt. Additionally, it will positively affect the society and creates new fields of industry. Due Date: 15-07-2018 Target Groups: Teaching staff, Administrative staff, Other

UNI-KLU - D5.2 Development of a Roadmap/Discussion Basic considerations Definition of road map : “… structured means for exploring and communicating the relationships between evolving and developing markets, products and technologies over time.” We have to conceive a list of activities, processes, milestones, tasks and issues that will help Egypt in the development or upgrade of the smart grid. The final road map will provide tools to examine the status, plan goals and track achievements. Since our project is about a new master program, the road map should be linked to this, i.e., the road map should include goals for improved education, study programs, training, job placement, interaction between universities, companies in the energy sector, public authorities. Indeed, the road map has to be contextualized to Egypt and I think it has to be aligned with the existing national energy plan/strategy. For this we need to retrieve and summarize info provided by public authorities and utilities.

UNI-KLU - D5.2 Development of a Roadmap/Discussion Possible steps: 1 Status-quo: Every Egyptian University will summarize the status of the smart grid development in his area of knowledge and geographical region (by 31 August 2018). 2 Regulations: AASTMT in cooperation with the ministry of electricity in Egypt will summarize the relevant regional regulations, standards and laws regarding smart grids (by 30 September 2018). 3 Impacts: AU will conceive a survey about the future impact of smart grid on Egyptian society (by 30 September 2018). 4 Actions: Every Egyptian University in cooperation with the ministry of electricity in Egypt will suggest a list of objectives and activities to upgrade the energy grid in Egypt (by 15 October 2018). 1b-4b: please prepare a short report for the meeting in Seville on activities 1- 4 done (14 Sept. 2018). 5 All the documentation will be collected by the University of Klagenfurt so that a first draft of the road map can be developed. The draft will be sent to EU partners (Strathclyde, Aberdeen, Seville) for the review process (by 20 October 2018). 6 Every EU partner will comment the document and suggest new actions based on their experience in order to optimize the proposed road map (by 31 October 2018). 7 UNI-KLU will collect all the information and complete the final document (by 15 November 2018). 8 The English document has to be (according to the proposal) translated to Arabic language (by 30 November 2018).

UNI-KLU - D5.2 Development of a Roadmap/Discussion From the SGT-Map August progress meeting, a section of the minutes is as follows It seems like there is already some work done about the roadmap preparation What is the status? Action Items Person Responsible Deadline Send the proposed road map to consortium members for review and refinement. Mostafa Hamad 15/8/2018 Discuss proposed roadmap among consortium 8-11 Dec. 2018 Present the final proposed road map to the industry/decision makers Info session to be held in Alexandria in December 2018.
