Scheduling Timeline Timeline February 8th– Provide students with scheduling materials February 13th – Drop in office hours for scheduling questions Feb. 21st – Individual 15-minute scheduled appointments with parents as needed February 22nd- Signing Day (Course Registration form due with teacher signatures) April 22nd- Course requests passed out for final changes April 26th – Last day to change course requests *** NO changes will be made once schedules are passed out in August***

Honors Diploma for Class of 2020 Subject High School Academic Diploma with Honors English 4 units Mathematics 4 units, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II or equivalent and another higher level course or a four-year sequence of courses that contain equivalent content Science 4 units, including physics and chemistry Social Studies Foreign Language 3 units, including at least 2 units in each language studied Fine Arts 1 unit Career-Technical Not counted toward requirements, and may not be used to meet requirements Electives Not counted toward requirements Grade Point Average 3.5 on a 4.0 scale ACT/SAT Score [excluding scores from the writing sections]* 27 ACT / 1280 SAT

Global Scholars Diploma If you are in the program, you will.. Have an interest in the global economy and cultural studies Take 4-5 years of the same language Complete a cultural experience Complete course work outside of your regular schedule You need to take “Global Issues” again in 11th or 12th grade. If you are currently a part of the Global Scholars and no longer want to be, there is an opt-out form that must be signed with your school counselor.

Benefits of AP AP = Advanced Placement College-level courses taught at the high school. In May, students will take the AP tests for potential college credits. Scores range from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest). Check with your college/university to learn the score you must earn to receive credit. Scores of 3 or better earn credit at all Ohio public colleges. Weighted GPA if earn B- or above Cost is approximately $90 per exam.

Mentoring and School Leadership Freshman participate in this program as mentees 10th-12th grade students mentor small groups of freshman Must have a full-year study hall to participate Consists of peer tutoring, transition to high school, study skills training, etc. Worth 0.5 credits for a full year Applications available today! College Course Options College Credit Plus—CCP May be taken at the college campus or online Would be at no cost to the family Indicate intention on course registration form Complete and submit Intent to Participate form by April 1st to your school counselor--Pick up today! Examples would be at OSU-Newark and Central Ohio Technical College (COTC)

College Credit Plus (CCP) Meetings C-TEC will be hosting a general College Credit Plus meeting on February 1, 2019 from 6-7 pm. All students interested in taking CCP (college courses) next year are strongly recommended to attend! If you want to take classes at OSU-Newark next year, we strongly recommend attendance at the OSU Academy CCP *TBD* The meeting will take place in Founders Hall Auditorium (1179 University Drive Newark, OH 43055).

College Credit Plus—OSU Newark Apply to OSU-Newark Academy: https://academy-ccp.osu.edu/ Print out School Counselor Form and give to your counselor and request transcript to be sent to OSU-Newark Set-up meeting with CCP Counselor at OSU- Newark Follow-up with school counselor in August to make sure schedule is set for 19-20

College Credit Plus--COTC COTC—Central Ohio Technical College Apply to COTC as CCP student to take classes on campus: http://www.cotc.edu/Admissions/college-credit-plus COTC @ GHS Taught by a professor at GHS Courses offered based on student interest For 19-20- Intro to Philosophy (Critical Thinking), other class TBD School counselors will coordinate an application session in the spring

College Course Options--Denison Licking County Scholars at Denison University Discounted price for families Application process https://denison.edu/forms/licking-county-scholar- admission-application Request transcript and letter of recommendation from your school counselor If admitted, meet with registrar at Denison University to set up class Meet with school counselor to set up schedule for 19-20

Picking Up Your Schedule You will be picking up a copy of your official schedule in August No schedule changes will be permitted once schedule have been passed out Once the school year starts, the only schedule changes that will be made are for the purposes of improper placement. i.e. changing to appropriate rigor level (languages and math)
