ENQUIRY Q3: 4A.9 Rebranding attempts to represent areas as being more attractive by changing public perception of them.

Rebranding: attempts to represent areas as being more attractive for potential investors and visitors and locals. Re-imaging: changing public perception of place Discuss the images that the following clips give of Liverpool: Harry and Paul – comedy sketch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK3VVh06TPY Liverpool One https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnMTNbaJvxg

Peak Cavern - Castleton Why do you think the slogan ‘The Devil’s Arse’ was adopted? Task 1: Using the information you have gained so far and reading the top half of page 42 please complete sheet 4A.9a.

Task 2: Read rebranding industrialised places pages 42 and 43 and complete sheet 4A.9b

Bronte Country: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcJNDJCyOf8 Task 3: As you watch the clip make note of the rebranding strategies and how Haworth has been made more attractive to national and international tourists. Do you think these strategies would work for other rural villages? Discuss this point with the person next to you. Task 4: Use the Rebranding Rural Places section on pages 43 and 44 of the SUG to complete 4A.9c (not the 20 mark response)

Review of learning Evaluate the impact of rebranding in changing public perception of rural and urban places. 20 marks Using a sheet of A4 paper write the opening line for this response then fold the top of page so that you cannot see the line and pass it on. Next write 4 bullet points you’d include in paragraph one and a statement that evaluates and links back to the question – use Lean learning sheet 4A.9a to help you. Fold again and pass on. Repeat this twice more for paragraphs 2 and 3 using sheets 4A.9b and c. Now read the paragraphs in front of you and then write a concluding paragraph for the essay. Make sure you evaluate drawing together the information from the bullet points above.
