What is Health?

Health is being sound in all 6 components of health. Scientists in the past defined HEALTH simply as "an absence of disease or illness”. Today the term “Health” means more than just our physical health. There are 6 areas we need to consider when talking about our health. Health is being sound in all 6 components of health.

What is Wellness?

“Wellness” is the quality or state of being healthy in body and mind, especially as the result of deliberate effort.

= Wellness 6 Components of Health Being the best we can in every area of our HEALTH makes up our well-being, also known as our WELLNESS.

So what is included in each of the component areas? Physical Emotional Social Mental Spiritual Environ-mental So what is included in each of the component areas?

Physical Health

Physical Health “Physical health” is everything that has to do with our bodies. It includes personal attention to and maintenance of overall health through nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and positive healthy habits.

What effect does physical activity have on our health now… … and in the future?

Emotional Health

Emotional Health Emotionally healthy people feel safe and secure with their own emotions and feelings. They express emotions in positive, nondestructive ways. They are assertive about their needs. They are able to cope with unpleasant situations and not getting overwhelmed.

If you are emotionally healthy, chances are good that you have a healthy self-esteem. Your emotional health can greatly influence all the other areas of your health.

Social Health

“Social health” refers to satisfying relationships you have in your life with family and friends and the kinds of support that you receive from them. Social Health Socially healthy people respect others and avoid those who don’t treat them with respect and tolerance.

Mental Health

Mental Health A mentally healthy person: realizes his or her own abilities copes with the normal stresses of daily life works productively has fulfilling relationships with others adapts to change and copes with adversity

Your mental health can be greatly influenced by your emotional health. It may be difficult to see when a person has a mental health issue. Changes in mental health behavior are sometimes attributed to other causes.

Spiritual Health

Spiritual Health “Spiritual health” is a personal matter involving values and beliefs that provide a purpose for our lives. Maintaining harmonious relationships The basis of spirituality is discovering a sense of meaning in your life and coming to know that you have a purpose to fulfill.

Spiritual Health has a bigger impact on your life than most people realize. In your opinion, who ultimately controls your destiny?
