“Democracy is good. I say this because other systems are worse “Democracy is good. I say this because other systems are worse.”  — Jawaharlal Nehru “Too many people expect wonders from democracy, when the most wonderful thing of all is just having it.”  — Walter Winchell What do you think Nehru means when he says other systems are worse than democracy? Winchell stated that having democracy is the best part, but not to expect too much from democracy. What do you think he means by this? What is your personal view or opinion on the democracy of the United States today? Are there problems? Are there good things? Quote Tuesday 9/18

You work for a newspaper company in Boston, Massachusetts You work for a newspaper company in Boston, Massachusetts. Your paper does fairly well, until a new set of taxes are issued by the king. The taxes state that you must buy a stamp for EACH piece of paper you buy. As a newspaper company, this is a big expense. Meanwhile, there is no one to represent your company and make changes to the tax law that went into effect. You have several options. What would you do? Protest the government Deal with it, because you don’t have much you can do about it. Talk about it at the local pub with others, and organize a group to go against the new taxes Get violent with the people trying to make you pay more in taxes OTHER- (tell me what you would do OR any combination of the above) WHY did you choose this? WWYD? Wednesday

Photograph Thursday Who are the TWO people in the photos? (If you don’t know, make an inference based on what you see) Why do you think these two people are being compared? Why do you think Ms. Dishman chose to put something “controversial” up on this Thursday morning?
