MSBA Conference Welcome to the MSHSL Presentation. Thank you for all that you do to support students, educators, administrators and families throughout Minnesota!

What is the MSHSL? The Minnesota High School League is a…. Private, Non-Profit, Voluntary Association of Member Schools, Governed by the Representative Assembly and the Board of Directors

Who is the MSHSL? The Minnesota High School League is…. Staff, Board, and Committee Members, Students, Coaches, and Administrators, School Board Members and Parents, Everyone connected to our member schools.

Mission and Beliefs The Minnesota High School League provides opportunities for students through interscholastic athletic and fine arts programs and provides leadership and support for member schools.

MSHSL Staff Provide Support Staff members regularly communicate with schools. Interpret Bylaws and Policies Answer questions and provide advice Provide training for administrators

Transfer and Eligibility Most frequently questioned and applied bylaw If a student transfers schools, we rely on bylaws and policies to grant varsity eligibility. Cannot gain eligibility through a transfer. Multiple layers of review.

Proposed Amendments One Year of Varsity Ineligibility From the Most Recent Move (eliminate consecutive one year ineligibilities for multiple transfers) Foreign Students – Grant additional years of eligibility at junior varsity or lower. Separated (but never married) Parents – treated similar to divorce.
