Focus Standard ELAGSE8W3: Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, relevant descriptive details, and well- structured event sequences. a. Engage and orient the reader by establishing a context and point of view and introducing a narrator and/or characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally and logically.

Opening: Narrative Review Answer the following questions under your standard. Be prepared to discuss your answers.

Narrative Review: What are the two parts of a narrative and what do you find in both sections? What are the three basic types of narration? How are they different? How do you create imagery? What is tone? How do you create it? Define theme.

Task: Milestone Issues Students may restate or summarize the existing text in narrative form rather than provide an original narrative response. For prompts that ask the student to provide a narrative from a specific point of view, students may provide a narrative from a different point of view. For prompts that ask the student to rewrite the story with a different ending or a different point of view, students may copy large portions of the given text with minimal changes. Student responses may have only limited narrative elements or may use narrative elements such as dialogue in ways that do not effectively advance the narrative.

Read the Passage Rewrite the first three paragraphs of the story from the father's point of view. Be sure to include details that clearly show how the story changes when experienced from the father's viewpoint. What do you have to know before you start to write?

Write Re-read the first 3 paragraphs. Sheet of paper. Follow the topic and re-write the introduction. Turn it in when you are done. Topic: Rewrite the first three paragraphs of the story from the father's point of view. Be sure to include details that clearly show how the story changes when experienced from the father's viewpoint.
