21 DAYS OF POWER THE DANIEL FAST …..Deep calls unto deep – Psalms 42:7, …..this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. Matt 17:21 Rev. Kenneth Rogers

FASTING? What is it? Is it biblical for the New testament believer? Why is it necessary? Who should fast? How is it done?

FASTING We will learn according to scripture that there is a direct connection between fasting and praying Scripture declares that fasting accompanied with prayer is a powerful means for allowing the fire of God to ignite in your life.

What is Fasting? Fasting a private discipline that brings public reward Fasting is intended for someone with a desire for a deeper relationship or intimacy with the Lord. It is a doorway to breakthroughs Fasting is a surrendering of the body soul and spirit to God. True submission happens once you surrender

Views about Fasting Vary Some consider fasting unnecessary, undesirable, or just a matter of personal preference. Some believe fasting is outdated, others think that you there is only one type of fast that’s their type of fasting Fasting deals with very personal stuff: Food! But we are not talking about just going without food for a period of time, that’s dieting

Fasting The 21 Day Fast is about building spiritual strength. The intent is to get you blessed, because something’s ought to be more important than food. Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteous, for they shall be filled. So fasting is refraining from food for a spiritual purpose. There are some things whether Old or New Testament that are life changing mechanism that God gave us that never changed, GIVING, PRAYING AND FASTING.

Many of our biblical hall of famers fasted Moses the lawgiver, Daniel the seer, David the king, Anna the prophetess, Elijah the prophet, Ester the queen, Jesus the Son Of God, Paul the apostle There is more teaching in the NT on fasting than repentance and confession! Jesus taught more on fasting than on baptism and the Lord’s Supper! I believe that the discipline of fasting releases the favor of God, closeness to God and the blessings of God.

The Length of Fast… A fast was often for one day, from sunrise to sunset, and after sundown food would be taken - Jud 20:26; 1 Sa 14:24; 2 Sa 1:12; 3:35 A fast might be for one night - Dan 6:18 The fast of Esther continued for three days, day and night, which seems to have been a special case - Est 4:16 At the burial of Saul, the fast by Jabesh-Gilead was seven days - 1 Sa 31:13; 1 Chr 10:12 David fasted seven days when his child was ill - 2 Sa 12:16-18 The longest fasts recorded in Scripture were the forty day fasts by Moses, Elijah, and Jesus - Exo 34:28; Deu 9:9; 1 Ki 19:8; Mt 4:2; Lk 4:2

DANIEL NEEDED A MOVE OF GOD Why the Daniel Fast? DANIEL NEEDED A MOVE OF GOD Daniel 1:12, says, “Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables  to eat and water to drink.” Daniel 9:3 3And I set my face unto the LORD God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

Fasting Daniel 9:20 And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the Lord my God for the holy mountain of my God; 21 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. 22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding. 23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. Daniel 10: 1-2,  says, “In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.”

DANIEL FASTED AND GOD MOVED 1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision. 2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks. 3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled. 4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel; 5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: 6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.

DANIEL FASTED AND GOD MOVED 7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. 8 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. 9 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground. 10 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. 11 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. 12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
