Examples from Learning Experience Reports (LER) Sharps cause Cuts Examples from Learning Experience Reports (LER)

Injuries caused by sharps Two researcher recently reported being cut by sharps. Cut by a pastuer pipette that broke as it was being removed from a rubber tubing. Prevention: cut the tubing to remove the pipet. Poked by a needle when punching holes in the top of a microcentrifuge tube cap. Preventions: work carefully, and secure the tube on the bench top (not hold in your fingers).
