Homosexuality is a moral, alternative sexual orientation! Born gay Equals an identity It’s who I am It’s normal/natural It’s an alternative lifestyle It’s a civil rights issue
Homosexuality is an immoral, prohibitive sexual lifestyle. It is learned/developed It equals same-sex behavior It’s what I “do” It’s abnormal/unnatural It’s a destructive lifestyle It’s a moral issue
Questions to listen for as Chip speaks Is homosexuality genetic? Was I born this way? What role do developmental factors play? What role do environmental factors play?
Play Chip’s DVD (Part 1) 3 premises he will address: #1.-I was born this way #2.-10% of the population are homosexual. How could so many be wrong? #3.-The homosexual lifestyle is a healthy, “alternative” to heterosexuality.
Table talk Discuss how you feel about Chip’s apology to the gay community. What went through your mind? Why? In your opinion, what was the most striking or insightful from Chip’s teaching in this session?
What Jesus saw as He looked at people Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.” What words or phrases describe the broken condition of people in this passage? How could we qualify as workers in His harvest field? How do we see those around us?
Jesus was condemned for eating and drinking with sinners and tax gatherers. What was His strategy? Why did He do it? The Samaritan woman at the well: John 4 Zaccheus, the tax collector: Luke 19:1-10 The woman caught in adultery: John 8 Do you know anyone who is gay who needs to know that God loves them and even knows their name? (Luke 19:1-10)
