How To Kill The Giants In Your Life 1 Samuel 16 & 17

1 Samuel 16:10-11 Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, The LORD has not chosen these. And Samuel said to Jesse, Are these all the children? And he said, There remains yet the youngest, and behold, he is tending the sheep. Then Samuel said to Jesse, Send and bring him; for we will not sit down until he comes here.

1 Samuel 16:12-13 So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him; for this is he. Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon David from that day forward…

1. Giant Killers Will Humbly Submit Themselves

1 Samuel 17:15-19 David went back and forth between working for Saul and helping his father with the sheep in Bethlehem…And Jesse said to David his son, Take your brothers this half bushel of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread…Also take these ten cuts of cheese to the commander…

1 Samuel 17:20 And David rose early in the morning and left the sheep with a keeper and took the provisions and went, just as Jesse had commanded him…

…I am among you as One who serves. Luke 22:27 …I am among you as One who serves.

James 4:17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

2. Giant Killers Are Disciplined

1 Samuel 17:20 And David rose early in the morning and left the sheep with a keeper and took the provisions and went, just as Jesse had commanded him…

1 Timothy 4:7, 10 …exercise (discipline) yourself for godliness (for killing giants)…For we therefore labor and strive…

3. Giant Killers Are Determined

1 Samuel 17:39-40 …Then David said to Saul, I cannot go with these, for I have not tested them. So David took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand and choose five smooth stones from the brook and put them in his shepherd’s pouch. His sling was in his hand, and he approached the Philistine.

And when the Philistine looked and saw David, he disdained him… 1 Samuel 17:42 And when the Philistine looked and saw David, he disdained him…

4. Giant Killers Remove The Head Of Their Giant

1 Samuel 17:50-51 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone…and killed him. There was no sword in the hand of David. Then David ran and stood over the Philistine and took his sword…and cut off his head with it.

1 Samuel 17:54 And David took the head of the Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem, and put his armor in his tent.
