Is there anything strange about these statements? I hate people I never eat food I cant stand films I never go to places

Is there anything strange about these statements? I hate people I never eat food I cant stand films I never go to places Can you continue the sentences to make them true for you?

Did you come up with anything like these? I hate people who dont say thank you when you do something for them. I never eat food which has been on the floor. I cant stand films which are set in space. I never go to places which arent safe. I never go to places where I might bump into an ex-girlfriend.

a)All the people who/that have met him say hes awful. b)Can you take the suit which/that is hanging in the cupboard to the cleaners? c)Shes the best friend who/that anybody could ever have. d)The boy who/that sits next to me is always cheating in tests. e)Whats the name of the man whose wife works in the library? f)Ive lost the new pen which/that I bought this morning. g)Dont tell anybody who/that you meet where I am. h)We decided to go to a restaurant which/that we had never been to before. i)The man whose car you scratched is walking this way. j)The magazine which/that you lent me has some very good articles in it.

What do the following sentences from the exercise have in common? Shes the best friend who/that anybody could ever have. Ive lost the new pen which/that I bought this morning. Dont tell anybody who/that you meet where I am. We decided to go to a restaurant which/that we had never been to before. The magazine which/that you lent me has some very good articles in it.

In each case we can OMIT the relative pronoun WHO, WHICH, or WHAT. Shes the best friend anybody could ever have. Ive lost the new pen I bought this morning. Dont tell anybody you meet where I am. We decided to go to a restaurant we had never been to before. The magazine you lent me has some very good articles in it. Why is this possible?

Each of these relative clauses begins with a new subject, so the relative pronoun is not necessary to make the sentence clear. Each sentence has an equal number of subjects and verbs. Shes the best friend anybody could ever have. Ive lost the new pen I bought this morning. Dont tell anybody you meet where I am. We decided to go to a restaurant we had never been to before. The magazine you lent me has some very good articles in it. This should be clearer if we consider a sentence where omission is not possible. All the people who have met him say hes awful has two subjects and two verbs. All the people have met him say hes awful has one subject and two verbs and is confusing.

Prepositions in Relative Clauses Which of the following sentences is NOT POSSIBLE in English: We decided to go to a restaurant which we had never been to before. We decided to go to a restaurant to which we had never been before We decided to go to a restaurant we had never been to before. We decided to go to a restaurant where we had never been to before. We decided to go to a restaurant where we had never been before.

We decided to go to a restaurant to which we had never been before We decided to go to a restaurant we had never been to before. We decided to go to a restaurant where we had never been to before.
