Bellwork 3/1 What are 4 ways that could cause temperature to vary in a given location?

Heads up: Friday March 3rd—wrap up & review Review guide will be provided Atmosphere Test on Tuesday March 7th Next unit: Clouds & Precipitation!!

What can we do with these temperature variations? Map average temperature Predict future temperature changes Create maps showing temperature distribution  nationally & globally

Isotherms: Line on a map that connects points of equal temperature Allows us to easily see temperature distribution in an area

How to draw Isotherms…? 1. Isotherms are drawn in ten-degree intervals. 2. Temperatures lower than the isotherm value are always on one side of the isotherm and higher temperatures are on the other side. 3. Draw an isotherm until it reaches the end of the plotted data or closes off a loop 4. Neighboring isotherms tend to take similar paths. 5. Isotherms never cross and never split or fork. Let’s practice:

Work time: Finish Temperature Control Variation station lab Check your answers with the Key online…make sure to ask me about any questions you have! Work on Temperature Distribution worksheet…this will serve as your notes! You will need a textbook for this
