Determining the transport of fast electrons in LHCD regimes We now have reasonable bounds on LH-driven fast electron diffusion and convection terms (LH modulation experiments, CQL3D modeling) All LH modulation experiments to-date have been in low-power (non-current-driven) regimes It is likely that transport will be different in current-driven regimes, especially those that eliminate sawtoothing
Proposal: Use LH modulation experiments to measure diffusion and convection in current-driven regimes This will require coming to steady-state (1-2 current relaxation times) for a particular plasma condition and then modulating for a short period of time, < current relaxation time Scan LH phasing, density (with multiple shots at each condition for boxcar binning)
Run Plan: ~ 2 days needed to scan phasing and density Start with high low density and scan n|| from high to low Could be piggy-backed on other LH experiments looking for steady-state data
