Do I qualify for a 4 year college? Look at A – G only: California State University System (23): Minimum 2.0 GPA (need high SAT/ACT test score. Chart on www.csumentor.edu If you have a 3.0, no test score needed. University of California (9): 3.3 GPA. All require SAT/ACT, personal statement Private, Out of State, HBCU’S (105): Check website of school for requirements and www.collegeboard.org

Month by Month Timeline August 18, 2017: SAT/ACT prep and sign up to take real thing. Get highest grades possible. 3. Re-take “D” in A-G areas (see counselor) 4. Take college classes, Honors/AP= Rigor 5. Volunteer, get involved at school, get letters of recommendation, clean up social media profile, Research colleges, majors, & scholarships.
September 2017 Visit College Campuses Continue SAT/ACT prep, volunteering and research Create College list of “Best Fit” Schools Write Personal Statement (For UC/Private/Scholarships) Go to College Fairs Visit College Campuses Study hard on all subjects
Oct/Nov/Dec 2017 1. Retake SAT/ACT 2. Do College Applications: CSU/UC MUST Submit before the deadline. (NOV 30th) Last day of should be= Nov 20th. Parents help us! 3. Upload letters of Rec, test scores, and personal statement 4. Check Portals regularly for important deadlines 5. Fill out scholarship applications
