Format a One-Page Report: 6.1 project 1 through 6.1 project 3 C 2012jkc

After formatting the title, format the paragraph for double-spacing by right-clicking in the white space of the page to get the drop-down menu shown. Click on Paragraph to display the Paragraph dialogue box. (see Paragraph dialog box on next slide) 2 1 Open an MS Word document and type the report title (all caps). Format the title so that it is bold and center-aligned. (Control + B, and Control + E, keyboard shortcuts or use the formatting toolbar buttons above) C 2012jkc

2 Display the Paragraph dialogue box again after typing the byline (see previous slide to see how this is done) and select Left alignment (then click OK) under the Indents and Spacing tab to left-align the report body. 1 1 Select Double for the Line spacing under the Indents and Spacing tab of the Paragraph dialogue box to format the report’s line spacing. Press enter and type the byline (centered but not bold). C 2012jkc

Click on File on the menu bar and select Page Setup on the drop-down menu to display the Page Setup dialogue box. Set the Left and Right margins under the Margins tab to 1 inch then click OK and type the rest of the report. C 2012jkc

Completed project (6.1 project 1) should look like this Book title formatted in italics (highlight it and use Control + I shortcut key or click the “I” button on the formatting toolbar) 1 3 2 After completing this project copy it (keyboard shortcuts: Control + A to select all, then Control + C to copy) and paste it to a new document for the next project (6.1 project 2) 6.1 project 2 is the same as 6.1 project 1, but 3 more paragraphs are added from pages 227 and 228 of the textbook. Press tab to indent the 1st line of the two paragraphs Completed project (6.1 project 1) should look like this C 2012jkc

This is then copied (Control + A, then Control + C) and pasted to a new document for 6.1 project 3 1 2 In 6.1 project 3 we start off with a report identical to 6.1 project 2 and then the last two paragraphs are edited as per the text directions (see next slide) C 2012jkc

This is a view of just the editing required in the last two paragraphs of 6.1 project 3 Insert a period (.) after the word “them”; delete the word “and”; and capitalize the letter “f” in the word “funny” to start a new sentence. Delete “But”, and insert commas; Replace “Charlie and “he” with “they.” Delete the word “that” and the comma (,) after the word “directions.” Insert the word “and” between “directions” and “Willy.” C 2012jkc

Finally Find & Replace instances of the word “Willy” with the word ” Mr.” by highlighting the last two paragraphs as shown above and following the directions in the next slide C 2012jkc

Click Edit on the menu bar and select Replace on the drop-down menu to display the Find and Replace dialogue box. Type in “Willy” in the “Find what:” window, and “Mr.” in the Replace with:” window. Then click Replace to replace the 5 instances of the word Willy in the last two paragraphs. C 2012jkc
