Symbol’s of U.S. By: Karas Alshaaya – Mrs. Wooster’s 4th grade class

Star Spangled Banner Have you heard of the Star Spangled Banner? You’re lucky! It was made by Francis Scott key. It is a poem that got written in 1814 when in war. It became the U.S national anthem. That’s how the Star Spangled Banner is a symbol.

Flag of U.S. Did you know the look of the flag has meaning? A common one is stars. Each star is a state. Then the stripes are the original 13 colonies. Next is the color red, it means courage. After that is blue it means loyalty. Finally is who sewed it, it was Betsy Ross. That is how the flag was made.

Liberty Bell Did you know the Bell was a hangout area? In 1751 the Liberty Bell was a hangout. Then lots of years later the bell was cracked. Then the people who cracked it tried to fix it but didn’t work. Finally when it cracked every year 2 million people visit each year.

Bald Eagle Did you know the Bald Eagle was getting hunted? The Eagle represents both power and grace. Then in 1782 the Eagle was adopted for a symbol. Finally in 1978 the government thought the Eagle was danger. Then in a few years they stopped hunting for Bald Eagles. That’s how the Bald Eagle became a symbol.

Statue of Liberty Did you know the Statue of Liberty was a gift? The Statue of Liberty was an idea and gift by Frederic Aguste. The Statue took a long time to build and got its own words. That’s how the Statue of Liberty got built.
