Distinctions between Informative and Persuasive Speaking Informative Speaking Persuasive Speaking General goal of informative speaking is to increase the listeners’ knowledge. Information can be presented without an attempt to persuade. The purpose of the persuasive speech is to alter attitudes and behaviors. Persuasion cannot be accomplished without attempting to inform.
