WFP operational update FAWG 28 July2016

WFP Response to El Nino: PAC & LSA WFP is responding to El Nino through LSA and PAC. In July, WFP will assist 405 000 bens in 12 districts (Binga, Zvishavane, Kariba, Bulilima, Hwange, Mudzi, Mbire, Rushinga, Mt Darwin, Mwenezi, Chirumhanzu and Chiredzi). Our target for this quarter is to reach 1.3 million people and gradually scale up the programme to reach 2.3 million people by January 2016, with both in-kind food assistance and cash-based transfers. WFP has initiated an Emergence School Feeding Programme (ESFP). The Programme targets primary schools in most food insecure rural districts. The ESFP started this month of Zvishavane and Mbire and is expected to gradually scale-up to cover more districts in the coming school terms. The target is to reach 77,000 pupils.

Transfer Modalities in-kind transfers Ration: 7kg cereal, 2 kg pulses, 0.75kg Veg oil pppm and supercereal plus for the under 5s. Cash Based Transfer Transfer value: $7 pppm. A combination of in-kind and cash transfers Ration: 7.5 kg cereal pppm and $5 in lieu of Pulses and veg oil pppm.
