Human Growth and Development Life Stages

Types of Growth & Development Physical=body growth (ht & wt changes, muscle & nerve development, & changes in body organs) Mental or Cognitive=intellectual development (how to solve problems, make judgements, & deal with situations) Emotional=feelings (dealing with love, hate, joy, fear, & excitement) Social=interactions & relationships with others

7 Life Stages Infancy: birth to 1 year Early childhood: 1-6 years Late childhood: 6-12 years Adolescence: 12-18 years Early adulthood: 19-40 years Middle adulthood: 40-65 years Late adulthood: 65 years and older

7 Life Stages Homework-Read the printed information about the 7 life stages. This is your copy so feel free to write on it. You are responsible for all of this information for the test. Tomorrow you will create a life stages PowerPoint or Prezi and make a collage on one assigned stage. These will be presented to the class on Monday. Do NOT just copy the information from the book on your PP/Prezi. Make it interesting, add pictures, and summarize it!

7 Life Stages If you make a PP you must email it to your teacher or save it to a flashdrive. (dana.cashion@dcsms.org or ashley.berryhill@dcsms.org) The collage can be made by cutting pictures from the magazines we have in class and gluing/taping them to white paper from the large paper roll. Make sure to add any words or definitions that will help explain your pictures.
