What is ELA? ELA is a service for those who are facing severe financial hardship/crisis as an interim solution. Essential items e.g. white goods, food parcels are available as well as pre-payment cards for utilities, nappies and clothing Clients can be allocated to a Crisis Support Worker should they need further support, with benefits, debts and budgeting via Dorset First Point (DIPS)

Who can access ELA? Dorset resident (excluding Bournemouth and Poole) Must be over 18 Not in prison, in hospital, care home. Must not be subject to immigration control Must have access to public funds Have no other means of gaining support elsewhere The IPS Workers will deliver the discharge from hospital – to follow the person’s journey in the event of a longer intervention. Will also support people that are homeless & need safe provision on discharge. YOU been working with the Housing Teams re: developing a Hospital Discharge Protocol This is developmental & will evolve in response to the HRA

How to access ELA? Telephone only - 0330 123 4225 Monday to Thursday 9am-5pm, Fridays 9am-4:30pm Complete an application over the phone (approx. 5-10 minutes) Depending upon decision and support required: Payment cards can take up to 48 hours to be activated (sent first class) Food parcels are delivered 3 x week Dorset Reclaim will make contact with the client within 48 hours

Data Between April 2017 & April 2018 1720 clients were supported through ELA Majority of requests are for food parcels and utility cards are the main provision
