Introductory Paragraph Objective: You will learn to develop a introductory paragraph for your research paper.

What is an introductory paragraph? A brief summary of what your research paper is on.

Introductory paragraph includes: Topic Thesis Statement Brief summary of what your research paper is on - provide the reader with a few dynamic statistics about your wonder…these statistics should make the reader anticipate reading more!!!

Example With its architectural splendor and magnificent golden tone, the Great Pyramids of Giza bring many fascinating mysteries to the people of the world today. In Egypt, located on the banks of the Nile river, the purpose of these structures was to entomb the great Pharaoh Khufu and his many wives. With the hard work of 100,000 slaves, this marvelous wonder was created over 4,500 years ago.

Remember The purpose of your introductory paragraph is to catch the attention of your audience – make it as interesting as possible!!! It is very important that you do not use the word “I” in any of the paragraphs in your paper aside from those that make up your conclusion.

Let’s Get to Work! Right now, in your notebooks, start to write your own introductory paragraph for your research paper.
