Feast of the Ascension of Jesus Christ or Father's Day (By Fabian)

Feast of The Ascension is the day referred to the return of Jesus Christ as son of God to his father in the sky in the Christian faith. It is celebrated 39 days after Easter Sunday. Therefore, the Festival always falls on a Thursday. The earliest possible date is 30 April; the latest of June 3.

This day is a legal holiday in Germany (in the GDR was only to 1966 and in 1990). People who believe in god attend a church service. Most people use it to spend the day together. They go on hiking or biking tours or make a barbeque.

Non-officially the day is also celebrated Father's Day. It is very popular in Germany. It is also known as Men's Day. Participants (traditionally exclusively male - young and old) make a walk or a ride together.

Often a lot of alcohol is consumed. Men meet to go on hiking or biking tours - often from restaurant to restaurant or to a special restaurant. When hiking frequently carts, hand carts or wheelbarrows are carried to transport the beverage better.
