© David Coyote Day 4 Where was I? Ah, yes…the Princess took me along for a ride on The Natchez, a big paddle wheeler just like the original ones that carried goods up and down the mighty Mississippi. What a trip that was! The other guy let me use the camera so I took this picture...his better side, if you ask me.

© David Coyote Those red paddlewheels really churn up the water. Big wheel keeps on turning…. Now I can't get that song out of my head!

© David Coyote Here's a picture of the Creole Queen...one of the other paddle wheelers. The Natchez is much bigger but they look similar. You should hear the steam whistles blow!

© David Coyote There I was, out on that big Mississippi with ships from all over the world. This is one of the busiest rivers in the world! For a moment there I thought I saw the one that brought me to America. Who knows? As I said...it's all a mystery!

© David Coyote The Natchez paddled right under this bridge that spanned the Mississippi. The captain provided a guided tour...and I came away feeling that I could probably repeat his narrative word for word. (Just be glad that I'm not.)

© David Coyote I was ready to spend 5 cents of my allowance on something to eat, but the Princess told me these signs were no longer accurate where prices were concerned, something about them being over seventy years old. 'Uneeda' what? I wondered. She told me it was a cookie, but bought a Po Boy sandwich for me. I saved my 5 cents.

© David Coyote We went back to our hotel and I ate my Po Boy on the balcony while enjoying the colorful view of the second floor of Tortorici's Restaurant across the street. I wonder...does anyone still make pigeon stew?

© David Coyote It was time for a nap so I took one. The other guy had plenty to do to get my report done accurately. Oh well, one shouldn't be too critical of lesser talents.... Now be patient. I'll dictate day five as soon as I've rested, Warty

© David Coyote Day 5 I told you. Though it was the last day in New Orleans, we made the most of it and got out to other parts of town. After a splendid breakfast, (no need to go into it here) I rode the street car out to the Garden District where we wandered streets of old memories and mansions. And no, unless you mean bats, I do not believe in Vampires.

© David Coyote There were so many wrought iron styles. Guess everyone wanted their homes to appear unique. I bet it takes a lot of work just to paint these fences. Will you look at the wrought iron! Someone was kept busy building these mansions.

© David Coyote Can you believe it? These trees are eating the fence! Interesting way to care for the garden if you ask me. Lazy gardeners! Either that, or those trees really grow fast!

© David Coyote We returned to our hotel that evening and packed for the return trip. I still had the camera and took this picture of the Princess sitting with her friend, Bob Lewis, the pianist at the Royal Orleans lounge. He is a very talented man, and we've enjoyed his music for years. If you ask me, and I'm not sure, but I think the other guy was too tired to stay up for the fun. As I said, perhaps he's too old for these kinds of vacations. It was a good thing that the Princess took me along or she might not have had much company.

© David Coyote Now, dear readers, I promise to do my best to get the other guy to stay up to date with the news about me...and the Princess. It's a task, believe me! I hope he hasn't made a mess out of this report. If you notice any errors or anything that needs to be reported, just drop me a line. I can't promise excellence, but I bet I can get the Princess to make him correct glaring mistakes!

© David Coyote And always remember, Laissez les bon temps roulez! Until then, mes amis.... Warty
