General Information PE – Monday and Wednesday Daily Golden Mile Swimming – April 2019 Children need a toilet pass to exit the class Free fruit/vegetable snack every break time Monitor roles Developing independence ready for KS2

Water Bottles All children should have a named water bottle that stays in the classroom, as the children are encouraged to drink throughout the day to keep hydrated. Water bottles need to go home everyday to be replenished. Plastic cups are available if a water bottle has been forgotten. Monitors ensure the trays are taken outside at break and for PE sessions.

“Show and Tell” We love to hear about what the children have been up to and enjoy seeing things that they have made and items special to them. However, sometimes we are inundated with people wanting to show things and this takes time. We will allow time for the children to show awards, achievements, medals, learning undertaken at home connected to the topic and special circumstances.

PE Kits P.E takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please ensure that labelled school PE kits are in on these days and that kits are taken home regularly to be washed. White T-shirts, green shorts/jogging bottoms, change of socks and trainers. Hair MUST be tied back if long enough. No jewellery to be worn (earrings must be taken out or taped up). We aim for children to get changed in under 5 minutes. Any inhalers need to be labelled and in the class asthma box to be taken over to the hall or field. Swimming will take place on a Tuesday morning starting in the Summer term. Golden Mile every morning (weather permitting).

Reading at Home New Home Reading Record to be signed regularly as a celebration of reading. Books will be changed in school on Mondays and Thursdays. Reading in class runs through all lessons. Guided reading sessions are where the teacher or TA hear your child read.

Spellings and Number Bonds Spellings may be individual, group or topic based. New spellings will go out on a Monday with various activities to be carried out over the week. (One of these being spellings in a sentence.) New number bonds/facts (Nippy Numbers) will also go out on a Monday. Book in on Thursday please. Spelling Home Learning books must be back in class on a Friday as this is when the spelling test will take place. At the end of each term there will be a recap test of all the words learnt that term. Spellings home learning is marked every week and praise (gem points) or ways forward given. Mathletics coming soon.
