Unit Structure Two mandatory Units at all levels: Additional Understanding Language Unit Assignment (Added Value Unit - AVU) for National 4 level only Using Language Unit Specialist Study Unit (SSU) for Advanced Higher level only We can explain what these units are in the audio rather than on the slide
Unit Assessments Based on mandatory Outcomes and Assessment Standards Internally assessed but subject to Verification by SQA Unit Assessment Support Packs available but centres free to choose alternative methods of assessment Timing and sequencing of assessments to be decided by centres Normally one opportunity for reassessment
Unit Assessment Conditions – Talking and Writing tasks Candidate’s own work : centre responsibility Share requirements to meet Assessment Standards No time restrictions Candidates work independently with reasonable assistance Open book: Talking : task, prompts/notes for reference only Writing: task, bilingual dictionary and/or glossaries, reference materials.
