Probability of two events Tuesday, 19 February 2019

Two fair coins are thrown. Example Two fair coins are thrown. Draw a sample space diagram to show all possible outcomes. What is the probability of obtaining two heads when two coins are thrown? 2nd coin T H H T 1st coin

Example Two dice are thrown and the total score is obtained by adding the two values together. Draw up a table to show all the possible scores available. What is the probability of obtaining a score of 8?

Example School lunch has on offer Beef burgers, Chicken burger or veggie burger, served with either French fries, jacket potato or salad. Draw up a table to show all the possible combinations that could be ordered.

Example In my left pocket I have four coins. They are 2p, 5p, 5p and 10p In my right pocket I have five coins. They are 2p, 1p, 5p, 10p, 10p Two coins are chosen at random, one from each pocket. Draw up a sample space diagram and use it to find the probability that the total value of the coins is 12p.
