Making inferences… What is an inference? Text Evidence What is an inference? Prior Knowledge What are the 2 pieces information you need to make an inference? EVIDENCE- found in pictures, in a reading passage, eye witness to an event. This is the “It says…” piece. PRIOR KNOWLEDGE- what we already know. Our knowledge, experiences, things we learned. This is the “I say…” piece.

On the back of the Anticipation Guide, make 4 columns headings at the top of your paper. WHAT IS PICTURED? EVIDENCE PRIOR KNOWLEDGE INFERENCE We are going to look at a series of pictures, you will write down the title of the picture, and analyze the picture JUST based on what you see. That is our evidence, write in EVIDENCE column.
