8:30 – 9:30 Guided Reading Determined by need – not always grade level instruction Dibels, SRI, Phonics Assessment Students could work with any teacher from Kindergarten to third grade. 4

10:30– 11:15 Writer’s Workshop Model writing Writing prompts and free choice writing Learn the 6 steps of the writing process Brainstorming Drafting Conferencing Revising Editing Publishing 7

1:30 – 2:15 Shared Reading Introduce Word Wall Words Introduce Word Families Spotlight on Comprehension Daily Message Beginning of the year: Read message and find capitals, periods, word wall words, base words and endings, compound words, contractions. Middle of the year: Find mistakes in the message. 10

Mrs. Schaefer 7:50-3:00 Your child may talk about working with Mrs. Schaefer. Mrs. Schaefer pulls students individually to check their key ring and fluency She also is a guided reading center. Mrs. Schaefer is an irreplaceable part of our first grade team!! 16
First Grade IREAD IREAD type of test given in May It is a predictive test to determine students at risk. Students are monitored all year. The test is individually administered. 17
